Tupelo, Miss. (March 23, 2018) – Specialty Orthopedic Group broke ground today on a 32,700-square-foot facility, investing $11.5 million and creating 50 new jobs.

“We are excited to expand our footprint in north Mississippi by offering an all-inclusive, sub-specialized orthopedic care experience for our patients. With our clinic, surgery center and physical therapy conveniently housed in one location, we will have an exclusively unique opportunity to offer an even more customized patient treatment plan,” said Specialty Orthopedic Group Administrator/CEO Sparky Luster. “On behalf of the Specialty Orthopedic Group team, we sincerely thank the City of Tupelo, TVA, CDF, Jesco, and BankPlus for their support in making our dream a reality. We look forward to continuing to serve the entire north Mississippi community.”

Specialty Orthopedic Group currently employs 40, including four surgeons and two nurse practitioners. The $11.5 million, state-of-the-art facility will include 22 exam rooms, a physical therapy exercise and treatment facility with a therapy pool, two on-site digital x-ray areas, and an outpatient surgical center with four operating rooms and four private recovery suites. The new facility is expected to open February 2019.

“In the two short years since Specialty Orthopedic Group first opened in Tupelo, it has become deeply embedded in our community; supporting our schools, local non-profits and more,” said Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton. “We are grateful for their support and look forward to celebrating their continued success.”

“Tupelo is my hometown. I am so proud to have the opportunity to share my skills with the community which invested so much of itself in me,” said Specialty Orthopedic Group Partner Dr. Richard Rainey, MD. “It is a privilege to provide next-level orthopedic care to the citizens of north Mississippi, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to offer these services in our new surgery center. On behalf of all of our doctors, nurse practitioners and entire team, thank you for trusting us and believing in us. We couldn’t be who we are and what we are without the confidence and support of this community.”
