TUPELO, Miss. (August 20, 2018) – Specialty Orthopedic Group is pleased to welcome Doctors Matthew A. Miller and Phillip A. Sandifer to the practice.
Doctors Miller and Sandifer, both total joints specialists, received their medical degrees from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, and completed their internships and residencies at the University of Mississippi Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, also in Jackson. Dr. Miller completed his fellowship as an Arthroplasty Fellow at Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Clinic in Jackson. Dr. Sandifer completed the AO International Short-Term Fellowship under the direction of Dr. Olivier Borens, CHUV in Lausanne, Switzerland, and his fellowship as an Adult Reconstruction Fellow at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.
A Caledonia, MS native, Dr. Miller graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in general engineering from the University of Mississippi in Oxford. “I am very excited to be joining Specialty Orthopedic Group,” he said. “I believe that specialized orthopedic care allows us to provide the best care for our patients. I am honored to be joining this group and bringing this level of care to North Mississippi, my home.”
Dr. Sandifer hails from Greenwood, MS and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Mississippi in Oxford. “I am looking forward to helping Specialty Orthopedic Group continue to provide excellent sub-specialized orthopedic care to the people of north Mississippi,” he said.
“I am excited about the next era of Specialty Orthopedic Group,” said Dr. Rowland Roberson. “Matt and Phil will more than double our total joint capacity. With this addition, we can more quickly serve patients while providing the same sub-specialized care and results. As medicine begins to focus more and more on outpatient joints, Specialty Orthopedic Group has positioned itself to best serve the north Mississippi community.”
Dr. Miller will practice and operate in Tupelo. Dr. Sandifer will see patients at the Oxford clinic and operate in Oxford and New Albany. As total joint specialists, both doctors specialize in anterior hip replacement, partial and total knee replacement, and revision total joint surgery.
“I will be providing adult reconstruction surgery of the hip and knee, specializing in total hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and revision hip and knee replacement surgery,” said Dr. Miller. “I will be utilizing the most up-to-date techniques and approaches, including computer assisted total and partial knee replacement and anterior total hip replacement.”
Dr. Sandifer adds, “I enjoy total hip and knee arthroplasty because it enables my patients to regain greater mobility and a better quality of life.”
Dr. Miller is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the Christian Medical and Dental Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is married to Laura Dickerson Miller, also from Caledonia, MS. When he isn’t on the golf course or cooking a gourmet meal, Dr. Miller and Laura enjoy watching their three children – Jackson, Mary Frances, and Rook – play baseball, flag football, basketball, ballet, cheer, and tumble, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels at baseball and football games.
Dr. Sandifer is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is married to Katherine Barzizza Sandifer of Memphis, TN. Dr. Sandifer and Katherine, a pediatric nurse, are expecting their first child in January 2019. In his free time, Dr. Sandifer enjoys SEC football, hiking, and snow skiing.
