Mooreville 6th grader Laura Elizabeth did what any excited child would do on the last day of school – ran through the gym in celebration. Her excitement was short-lived as she slipped and fell on her ankle.
Laura Elizabeth’s mother, Torrie Robertson, reached out to our team at Specialty Orthopedic Group, and we were able to get her an appointment with Robin McDonald, FNP-BC within the hour.
X-rays showed a hairline fracture on her growth plate. Laura Elizabeth left with her ankle in a boot, and strict instructions to rest for two weeks – the first two weeks of summer. Laura Elizabeth was mindful of those instructions, and because of her diligence, was able to resume normal activity, while still wearing her boot, following her two-week check-up.
Yesterday, at her six-week check-up, she received the best news – her ankle had healed! Laura Elizabeth was ecstatic! She’s heading to camp this weekend and is now ready for 7th grade!
Torrie shared, “We were blessed to be able to get right in at Specialty Orthopedic Group. Our experience was fabulous with the whole team at SOG, from the front desk to the nurses and x-ray. We love Robin!” Enjoy your last few weeks of summer, Laura Elizabeth!
